MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS: Always Choose Yourself
by Anne M. Berg
We’re conditioned to protect ourselves from pain of all sorts. This conditioning tends to get in the way of our ability to be deeply authentic, to be truly vulnerable. As a recovering perfectionist, this is a tough one for me. I’m still learning to be nobody but my true self, to show up with both courage and compassion in every encounter, in every moment. And to know that I am enough.
Yet, so often, we fall into the trap of thinking we’re not good enough. We struggle with fitting in or standing out. We miss chances to connect with others on a meaningful level. We lose confidence in ourselves and in others. We drift off course and away from what truly matters. How do we avoid this negative energy?
Embrace a new strategy. Make new choices and hear new voices. When you choose authenticity, you’re making a brave decision to engage with the world from a place of honesty. Only then, is the opportunity for meaningful connection truly present.
The choice is ours; the choice is yours. Either lose yourself or choose yourself.
